Artificial Intelligence (AI) is undeniably the most significant and rapidly evolving trend in technology today. At CIRT, we continually seek innovative ways to integrate AI into our platform. We have partnered with Google in the past and are excited to share that we are a part of the Gemini API Developer Competition, utilizing Google’s AI model for image recognition in CIRT Check.
CIRT is a cutting-edge recycling technology platform providing on-demand, location-specific recycling data. We offer the most comprehensive recycling information available, covering everything from curbside to drop-off locations for over seventy different material types across North America, including Canada and Mexico. CIRT Check equips companies with the market's most robust data, enabling customers to handle packaging correctly at the end of its life and get it into a circular system.
CIRT Check, Powered by Gemini, is a proof-of-concept mobile application that leverages smartphone cameras to recognize objects and predict packaging materials. This information is cross-referenced with CIRT's extensive database to deliver accurate recycling instructions. By combining CIRT's data with Google's generative AI, we're putting a powerful and user-friendly recycling tool directly into users' hands.
With CIRT Check, Powered by Gemini, users can quickly scan materials within the app to receive precise answers to their recycling and composting questions. The app is not commercially available, but if selected as a winner in this competition, CIRT could secure valuable investments for further application development.
In this competition, CIRT is vying for multiple awards, including those for innovation, technology, and the grand prize, as well as the People's Choice Award.

The powerful partnership between Gemini and CIRT will dramatically increase recycling accuracy and participation, help divert millions of tons of waste from landfills, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and conserve valuable resources.
Together, we're not just improving recycling; we're paving the way for a more sustainable future.
