CIRT Founders Katherine Shayne and Dr. Jenna Jambeck co-authored a chapter on Solid Waste in Women In Infrastructure. The chapter focuses on solid waste management starting from inception to its final disposition. It also discusses solid waste management techniques such as home collection, hauling, and composting. Various forms of solid waste disposal are compared and analyzed to address the most appropriate mitigation options. Additionally, in terms of mitigation strategies, location-bound approaches like circularity assessments and recycling apps are discussed, as well as product reimagining and governmental involvement.
