CIRT colors are defined only for web use. Print specs must be approved by the design team.
CIRT uses Inter for all text. Inter is a Google font, so it is widely supported across the tools we use. It prioritizes legibility and provides useful opentype features like contextual alternates. It is an appropriate choice for use in a modern professional setting for print and digital.
We use EXTRABOLD for headings and NORMAL for all other text. NORMAL ITALIC is acceptable for emphasis of a single word or short phrase, but should never be used for entire passages or blocks of text.
Text should be black on light backgrounds and white on dark background. If you have the ability, make sure that text/background combinations result in at least a AA contrast rating. Do not use colored text. Exceptions may be made to bring attention to a hyperlink.
Line height should be roughly 1.5 times the size of the text. All line heights and spaces before text should be kept to multiples of this line height. For web, visual approximation is appropriate. For print, use a grid, and be exact.
The CIRT logo is a wordmark. It can be displayed in black or white, according to the background. As with text, resulting contrast rating should be at least AA.
